The most common child seat errors! (Continued)

This post is a continuation on my other piece : <<  60% of car seats are installed incorrectly!! >>

Last week ITV’s “Belt Up Britain” campaign was launched and with it the mission to make sure that all kids are travelling safely in the car. Everything from correct car seat use to correct car seats and where to get it checked, was on the agenda.
Initially I was extremely happy about this, I’m super glad that this is finally something that is getting more and more media! But sadly being the way I am and me liking to pick on the small, yet extremely important things, I have to say that I was actually disappointed.

I found the help quite good, I felt that they did good, BUT never ONCE did they mention the importance of rear facing for as long as possible. And to me, this being a campaign to have parents use the seats correctly and to try and take down the % of incorrect use, and our sad and in many cases preventable, yearly fatality rate, this is something that really should have been put in.
I can understand that there is a very big timetable and everything needs to go smoothly, but I think that they could have spared 1,5 min just mentioning it.

If you want to see Good Morning Britain’s coverage of Belt up Britain, you can find the episodes on YouTube.

A lot of the things they talked about I have already covered in my other post but I also felt like really highlighting the work that Good Egg Safety does for us all. They offer free clinics all over the country, including Scotland and Wales, where you can get your car seats checked by a specialist car safety fitter.

You can find the next Good Egg car seat check clinics on their Facebook page:

I urge  you all to take 5 and watch the newest campaign video from Good Egg Safety, featuring Kat Furlong explaining the five most common car seat mistakes!!
