Britax Dualfix Voluntary Recall!

Yesterday was a very busy day!

Britax has issued a voluntary recall of the ‘Britax Dualfix’ car seat. There was a problem found with a component inside the seat – what type of problem or what type of component is sadly a question no one is getting answered so far, but there is one  – so there is a recall.

This potentially affected component was used in production batches sold between 3rd November 2017 and 22nd March 2018. No other batches are affected and this component is not used in any other Britax Römer child car seat or product.

“We are issuing a voluntary recall of certain classic DUALFIX child car seats due to a potential safety issue with a component in these seats. This potentially affected component was used in production batches sold between 3rd November 2017 and 22nd March 2018. We have identified the cause of this potential issue and can confirm that DUALFIX car seats outside of the batches involved are not affected. The specific component is not used in any other Britax Römer products, including all other versions of the DUALFIX. Parents who purchased a DUALFIX during 3rd November 2017 and 22nd March 2018 should go to https://www.dualfix-check.com/ to check if their seat is impacted by the voluntary recall and for further information. Whilst only a small number of seats have the potentially affected component, Britax Römer will be exchanging all DUALFIX products sold in the affected timeframe free of charge. Parents with a product affected by the recall should immediately stop using the product and register for a new one as soon as possible. We apologise for any inconvenience or concern caused by this recall. You can also contact us at +44 (0)1264 386034 or dualfix-check@britax.com.”

Britax Römer has clearly identified the cause of this issue. We have not received any reports of incidents or accidents relating to the potentially faulty component. While the potential breakage of the component is a safety concern, only a fraction of the seats have the potentially affected components.

Britax Römer initiated this recall due to results that did not meet our safety standards from our regular, internal conformity of production (COP) tests. Child safety and the quality of our products is the highest priority at Britax Römer.

For questions or concerns, please contact BRITAX at +44 (0) 1264 386034 or dualfix-check@britax.com.
