Why You Should Consider An OEM Specialist When Servicing Your Car

If you own a car, eventually, it’s going to need some repairs.  If you own a new car and it does break down, the dealership where you bought your vehicle will take care of it for free; but if your car is older or doesn’t come with a warranty, then that means that as soon as something goes wrong, you’re going to have to shell out some cash to fix it yourself, or take it into a speciality shop or general garage.

While at first this might sound great because wouldn’t everyone rather pay less money than more?  The unfortunate truth is that taking your vehicle to a third-party mechanic can be costly in the long run.  When an individual takes their car into an independently-owned garage, they are subjecting themselves to higher prices, lower quality components, less qualified technicians, and the potential of receiving a faulty diagnosis.  Each of these is an argument in favour of always dealing with your manufacturer’s dealership or manufacturer specialist for all repairs.

When you choose to go to an outside general garage, there are often times hidden costs that aren’t included in their initial quote; things like diagnostic time, miscellaneous materials used in the repair process (if needed), and any extra labour required due to unexpected parts failures can all end up costing significantly more than was initially quoted.  And while some owners might be able to afford this additional cost when it’s required, there are many drivers who will not have the necessary funds on hand.

This infographic gives a great oversight on why servicing your car with the manufacturer specialist or dealership is a wise decision.
